31 days {5}: slipcovers

Welcome to Day 5 of "31 days to a Remodeled Room."  Yesterday I showed you Becky's new window panels.  Today, you'll get a preview of her sofa slipcovers.  Remember the red plaid sofa set from the BEFORE  pictures?
The red sofas had been pretty, but with three boys playing and eating and who-knows-what-else on them, they were looking dirty and worn.  We decided to update the look with some slipcovers made from canvas painter's dropcloths.  It took three large dropcloths (@ Lowe's for about $30 each) to cover both the couch and loveseat.

Since the backs of both pieces are exposed, I added some tie detail to make them a little more interesting.  And now, whenever the sofas are covered with little footprints or food fingerprints (or once or twice, even worse), they just come off and go into the wash!

Are you working on your plan for redecorating your room?  If you've missed a post in this 31-day series, you can get a complete list here.  Hopefully these elements will give you some inspiration about what you'd like to update (or leave the same) in your own home.  I'd love to hear from you about how you are planning to implement these ideas.  Also visit the other 31-day bloggers to see how their topics can inspire you!
