31 days {11}: mantle decor

Welcome to day 11 of "31 days to a Remodeled Room."  Today I'm featuring Becky's mantle redo.

BEFORE          &          AFTER
There were so many great inspiration photos out there!  Here are just a few that we used to get us started...

Photos from Country Living, All Things Home, The Lettered Cottage, & (source?)

We tried to take all of our ideas and pull together things that Becky already had around the house to put together a mantle decor that would tie in better with the new feel of the room.  This photo was taken during the summer, but she can leave the "bones" the same and change up the wreath and hydrangeas with a few seasonal accents for fall and Christmas.  She's also on the lookout for a few inexpensive basket chargers or trays to layer behind the white pitchers to add some natural texture.  Another nice addition might be the really big initial or the number plate (I'm thinking monogram instead) from the inspiration photos, which might make a fun gift sometime (shhhh, don't tell Becky!).

Tomorrow I'll be moving into the dining area and showing off the artwork changes.  I hope you'll join me!

Have you been following Melissa's "31 days: Inspired for the Holidays" posts at The Inspired Room?  She posted great fall mantle photos yesterday, so be sure to hop on over and get some ideas for how to change it up with the seasons.  Now would also be a great time to check in with the other 31-day bloggers and see what they are posting today!

@Georgia - Check out this post by Cottage Instincts, where she created a "mantle" by hanging a large shelf above her couch.
